Autophagy-Modulating Drug Therapies
Autophagy-modulating drug therapies are pharmacological interventions that either stimulate (activate) or suppress (inhibit) autophagy, the intracellular process that degrades and recycles damaged proteins, organelles, and other cellular components through lysosomes. Because autophagy plays different roles depending on the disease and stage of disease, both activation and inhibition can be therapeutically beneficial.
